Mickey Thompson tires, wheels and rims are made for a specific set of cars and trucks and designed to fit perfectly every time. Mickey Thompson gear, or MT as it is referred to sometimes, was the pet project of a real man named Mickey Thompson who won a land speed record and loved everything to do with racing.
The first slingshot drag racer was built by Thompson in 1954 and he also had a hand in building and supervising several other cars including a ‘funny car’ which has the entire shell of the car lift up from the front to the back to reveal the engine and everything underneath. Thompson began traveling the country and winning many of the races he entered with different styles of vehicles that he either created or built himself.
Mickey Thompson did a lot for the racing community and he was well known for that but he was also known for the way he died. He was murdered by his partner, Michael Frank Goodwin who hired two thugs to shoot Thompson and his wife, Trudy, as they returned to their home from a night out. It took the police several years to capture and convict Goodwin of the crime, but he eventually confessed and is now serving a life sentence for each murder.

Thompson began the ‘after market’ product line with the Mickey Thompson Performance Tires which were featured at the Indy 500 several years running.
