DC Tutors Enthusiastic about Learning; Students Become Great Learners with Great Tutors
Apr 27th, 2010 by Kolleen
Washington DC tutors help all types of students, those that need a little extra help or those who need a lot of help. There are even tutors who work one-on-one with those students who have some type of learning disability such as dyslexia or ADHD or other types of reasons that prevent a student from learning such as a concentration problem from depression.
Many of the tutors are trained to spot the subtle differences of learning disabilities and refer students to the proper diagnostic teams before bringing them back to help them learn to study in the best possible way. Some students learn best through written instructions while others learn best through doing and others learn through being shown how or what to do. Once the way they learn best is found, a student will feel better about their learning and test preparations in addition to taking tests because they will be more prepared because they have a solid foundation of learning they may not have had before.
DC tutors are lifetime learners themselves and are excited and happy when a student finally ‘gets it’ or things begin to ‘click’ with the information they are learning, no matter how they are learning it. A good solid foundation is what’s needed for life long learning, for every grade and beyond school.
The tutors, administrators and educators, including the student’s teachers, should all take an active role in helping the students learn and study for exams, do their homework and learn to love learning. If they see other people taking an interest in what they are doing, they will believe it is important and know that it really is.
Not all tutoring programs are created equal, make sure the tutors are certified or at the very least hold a master’s degree in what they are tutoring the student in. Tutors who enjoy learning and seeing their students learn are the best type of tutors and these are the kind you want your children learning from and the tutor may just learn something as well, which would not be a bad thing.
