Today’s cloth diapers are not like the cloth diapers 10 years ago which required one to buy diaper accessories such as large safety pins or diaper pins and plastic pants to cover the cloth diapers to holding the messes.
Cloth diapers made today have a built-in waterproof outer shell and come with Velcro tabs that are convenient to open and close the diaper for checking for wetness and other messes without having to worry about a large diaper pin sticking the baby or yourself.
The all-in-one diapers that contain a built-in waterproof outer shell and come with Velcro tabs are machine washable and hold up to thousands of washings and will withstand the activity of a small baby learning to crawl, walk or roll around on the floor. One can buy cloth diapers and the plastic covered pants to go over them, but the plastic pants need to be hand washed and hung out to dry. Diaper pins would have to be used in which case extreme care needs to be used so that the ends do not puncture the baby or the person using the pins.
Many stay-at-home moms switch from disposable diapers to the cloth diapers in order to save money for their family because they have more time on their hands to wash the diapers in addition to saving the planet by not filling a landfill full of disposable diapers which take a very long time to decompose. Cloth diapers are eco-friendly because they are reusable time and time again.
All-in-one disposable diapers and cloth diapers covered in a waterproof outer shell can be purchased through Internet stores and sometimes through specialty baby only shops in the real world; however the plain cloth diapers and separate plastic panty covers can be purchased in a real world big-box department store.
Some parents prefer the convenience of disposable diapers when they take the child out and about and use the cloth diapers when they are at home because when they are out, the cloth diapers are harder to manage because they cannot simply grow them in the trash, they need to be placed in a plastic bag and brought home to be laundered so they can be reused.
