When it comes to kids’ parties, it’s usually cupcakes or one large cake for the birthday girl or boy.  But one idea for a child who likes to help out in the kitchen is to have a cookie baking party and allow the children to use cookie cutter sets to make their own cookies in their own special way.

A cookie baking party could have each child bring their own favorite cookie cutter or the family giving the party could supply all the cookie cutters.  It’s a fun and easy idea to have a cookie baking party.  Clear off the large dining room table and make sure each child brings an old T-shirt to put over their party wear so they do not get dirty, and then have little stations set up at each chair for each child to make their own special cookies.  A minimum of two or three cookies would be plenty depending on the age of the children.

Each child could have a small cup of flour to spread on the table or wax paper and then their own ball of dough and a small rolling pin which could be purchased at a specialty bake shop or online. And either the host or the birthday child could bring around a greased cookie sheet and spatulas for them to gently pick up their cutout cookies and place them on the pan to be cooked.

While the cookies are being cooked, each child could help with the clean up by placing paper cups and wax paper in the trash and using sponges to wipe off the table.  The parent of the birthday child should enlist the help of several of the other parents or have friends or family members on hand to help with the cookie cutting and baking.

By placing all the cookie cutters in one large basket and allowing each child to go through the basket one by one to find one or two cookie cutters, such as Disney cookie cutters or Star Wars cookie cutters, this way no one is accused of having a cookie cutter that someone else wanted because it is all fair.
