A San Francisco pawn shop will loan out approximately 20 to 30% of the assessed retail price of an item.  A consumer has a predetermined amount of time to bring back the loan money plus interest and they will get their collateral back.  There is always the option to extend the loan period for an additional month’s time for a flat rate fee of $5-$10 and at the end of the loan period. If the customer does not come back to reclaim the item then the pawnbroker has the right to sell the item in their store in order to gain back the money they gave out on the loan.
