Kitchen Cabinet Art Contest Helps Kitchen Remodeling Projects Become Works of Art
Jul 17th, 2009 by Leah
Many kitchen remodeling ideas have come out of art work and one does not need to be Picasso or Michelangelo in order to design kitchen cabinet fronts, but it helps to be an art major or some crafting talent.
Every year there are annual kitchen cabinet art contests, held in New York and New Jersey, in which artists create their own original masterpiece on an 18″ x 30″ solid maple kitchen cabinet door. In each year’s contest there is a grand prize, first, second and third prize place and audience members are encouraged to purchase not only the winning kitchen cabinets but all entries into the competition.
The idea behind the annual kitchen cabinet art contest is to introduce consumers to individual works of art for their kitchen rather than simply have mass-produced kitchen cabinetry that may or may not reflect the homeowner’s taste and style.
Numerous kitchen remodeling projects begin with an art piece such as a still life portrait of a bowl of fruit or an artist rendition of a sunflower plant. The homeowners may like the colors in the portrait or the painting or print may simply ‘speak’ to them in some way that wants them to decorate their kitchen with this type of pattern or color scheme.
Although not all kitchen projects, whether they are new Tampa Home Builder kitchen developments or remodeling jobs, a central piece of artwork, on one or two kitchen cabinets, can change the focus of an entire kitchen. Some people enjoy a modern stainless steel style kitchen where the appliances are either shiny silver or black and the rest of the décor is modernistic. Therefore a kitchen cabinet carved with an abstract design or painted with black and then one other color would be ideal for this type of kitchen.
Some people prefer daisies, sunflowers, strawberries, cherries or old country charm in which each item lends itself to a particular design and when etched on a kitchen cabinet becomes part of the kitchen’s charm if not its functionality.
Many people have a design in mind when they approach a kitchen contractor and then the kitchen contractor will approach an artist. Then the artist will turn one or more of the kitchen cabinets into works of art to help bring a kitchen from a simple functional space to a showplace.
