Businesses Use Blogs to Introduce Products and Services to Potentially New Customers
Jun 15th, 2009 by Kolleen
Blogs were once thought of as simply online diaries or online journals where people wrote down their thoughts about anything from what they had for dinner that night or how terrible their day was. Blogs are now places where businesses can introduce potential new customers to their products and services such as a company that is selling gold jewelry.
Blogs are similar to articles written for a company’s websites; however they are more conversational in tone and smaller than a typical article. There are millions upon millions of blogs throughout the Internet that discuss everything from how to make money to where to find the best restaurant in a certain city. A company that would sell gold jewelry online could find a blog that would fit their needs and then have a professional writer write a blog post for them in order to attract more potential customers to their website by placing the website address at the bottom of the blog post.
Many blogs offer incentives to their blog readers such as free e-books or links to other important information that can help the reader in these economic hard times. An e-book about how to sell jewelry either online or to a real-world brick and mortar style jewelry store is a great free gift to those who visit a blog because everyone is looking for something free and something that could really help them in these difficult times.
A blog post is also eligible for search engine optimization or SEO. Search engine optimization is the act of placing keyword rich articles on a website in order to attract the three major search engines - Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. These three major search engines send out their “feelers” so that they might find the keywords and keyword phrases within the articles and among the websites and then rank the websites according to a special formula. Keywords and keyword phrases are the words potential customers place in the search boxes on the search engines in order to find what they need or want. No matter where a keyword rich article and the website combination are located, such as a blog post, this search engine optimization is always working to rank and re-rank a website.
Having a high ranking on the major search engines is favorable to a jewelry store because the majority of people who use search engines choose from the top 10 websites brought back by the major search engines rather than look through page after page of website listings to find one that might fit their needs.
Blogs could be a great place for a jewelry business to introduce their way of purchasing gold jewelry to many people who might need extra cash in these economic hard times.
